Tel Aviv, IL — July 6, 2016 — HexaTier, which offers a comprehensive security and compliance solution for cloud-hosted databases and Database as a Service (DBaaS) platforms, today announced Database Authentication Proxy, a powerful new feature of the company’s unified security offering. It enables enterprise employees to securely log in to DBaaS environments such as Amazon RDS and other cloud vendors while maintaining the organizational authentication policies defined in the Microsoft Active Directory (AD) or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), thus eliminating the need for additional credentials.

With growing cloud adoption, enterprises are struggling to maintain identity management policies, because these platforms do not typically integrate with the organizational directory. HexaTier’s Database Authentication Proxy enables authentication with the company’s directory while implementing role-based provisioning and using static credentials to authenticate with the DBaaS environments.

“One of the barriers for DBaaS adoption is related to AD/LDAP integrations. HexaTier utilizes its patented reverse proxy technology to deliver a transparent authentication layer, which means that the system authenticates the users with the local AD/LDAP, and transparently creates a connection with the external database using the provided credentials,” said Dan Dinnar, CEO of HexaTier. “This conquers major hurdles standing in the way of mass adoption for Database as a Service, by automating employee permissions and allowing IT leaders to concentrate on more important matters.”

In addition to Amazon RDS, Database Authentication Proxy supports SQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Azure, and Google SQL Cloud. For more information, visit www.hexatier.com.
